1. Overview

Poopster ("we", "us", or "the App") is a user-generated review platform for discovering, rating, and reviewing restroom facilities. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information: Your email address, display name, and occupation (optional) when you register, plus a password if you sign up by email. If you sign in with Apple or another provider, we receive the name and email Apple shares with us.
• Location: When you grant permission, we use your device location to find nearby bathrooms and to alert you when a highly-rated restroom is close by. We store your last known coordinates only long enough to run that nearby-gem scan, and you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
• Photos: Photos you choose to attach to a review are uploaded and stored with that review. They are private until a moderator approves them for public display.
• Review content: The ratings, comments, and amenity selections you submit.
• Rewards and points: Your points, level, streaks, and redemption history, used to run the rewards and leaderboard features.
• Usage and diagnostics: Aggregate, anonymized analytics about how the App is used, such as feature engagement and crash data.
• Device permissions: We request permission before accessing location, camera, or photo library. Denying any permission does not prevent you from using the rest of the App.

3. How We Use Information

• To create and maintain your account and authenticate you.
• To show nearby bathrooms, maps, and travel-gem notifications.
• To display your reviews, ratings, favorites, and leaderboard standing.
• To award and track points, XP, streaks, and redemption of merchandise.
• To send you service notifications such as reward offers and nearby-bathroom alerts, including via mobile push notifications when enabled.
• To process purchases made through Stripe for physical merchandise and giveaway entries.
• To moderate user-submitted content and prevent abuse.
• To improve and maintain the App, troubleshoot, and analyze usage trends.

4. Sign in with Apple

If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with your name and a relay email address to use for your account. We use that email only to authenticate you and send account-related notifications. Apple does not share your real email address with us if you choose to hide it, and we do not share your Apple ID activity with Apple beyond what is required to authenticate.

5. How We Share Information

• Service providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the App, including Stripe for payment processing, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf and under contractual obligations.
• Public content: Reviews, ratings, photos you submit for display, and your display name may be visible to other users. Do not include personal information you do not want public.
• Legal obligations: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
• We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time from the Profile screen, which removes your account, reviews, and rewards. Some records may be retained in backup systems for a limited period or where required by law.

7. Your Privacy Choices

• Device permissions: Manage location, camera, and photo access in your device settings at any time.
• Notifications: Disable push notifications in your device settings.
• Account: Update your display name and occupation in the Profile screen, or delete your account entirely.
• Marketing: You may opt out of promotional communications; service notifications may still be sent regarding your account.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Third-Party Links

The App may link to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note the updated date above and, for material changes, notify you within the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
